Every day, Absolute Advocacy works with people who have been accused or convicted of driving while impaired (or under the influence) by alcohol or drugs in the state of North Carolina. Our role in their lives is critical to keeping our roads safe and saving lives. This often places us in the tough position of supporting someone who may be seen as on the wrong side of the law. From a distance, that is true. But when you work directly with the people who have made a bad decision to drive while under the influence, you realize that if you don’t do something to help them and work alongside them, the problem will only get worse.
According the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Reports, in North Carolina alone, over 70,000 people have had their drivers license revoked or suspended because of a DUI offense. Through our mission to make our roads safer, we have resolved to do what we can to lower that number. We know we can’t do it alone, but it is important that we take a part in the process. We make only make a small dent, but we will make a dent nonetheless – and a dent in the right direction.
Through Alcohol and Drug Education Traffic School (ADETS), treatment, dwi assessments, education and counseling, we work with law enforcement agencies and attorneys to make sure that a person convicted of a DWI offense in North Carolina meets the proper requirements in order to have their drivers license reinstated. Since law requires the services for anyone who has had their license revoked or suspended for driving under the influence, we take our business seriously and realize the very critical role we play in our community.
Working to make our highways safer is not easy, but we work diligently to do our part to make a difference. It is our goal to work closely with attorneys, agencies and nonprofit organizations to positively influence people to make better decisions when it comes to getting behind the wheel. In essence, we want to work with people on the wrong side of the law to help get them on the right side of the law and stay there. It’s a tough job, and we are happy to do it.
